Eastside Grubbing

A while back I went on a solo grubbing adventure to east San Jose to all the places we ate as kids. On the list:

Van Bakery - Pandan waffle and strawberry cake.
Kim Sandwich- Vietnamese sandwich, meat and mushroom roll thing, dessert drink.
Euro Delights - Pandan and taro bread, pâté chaud.

Hoping to have partners on the next adventure!

Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle

Authentic Thai noodle restaurant that serves boat noodles tucked away at a hole in wall place in Monterey Park, CA!

Spiciness scale from 1 to 10. I got a 5/10 for my boat noodle and Stan got a 7/10 for his Hoy-Ka. Spicy! Very flavorful broth.

Olleh

Got the pink lady roll with spicy salmon and cucumber inside, salmon on top. Standard and tasty, but was barely normal person full! Maybe I've been grubbing too much with the fam lately.

And I have no problem with that.

Good Eats in San Diego

I went down to SD this past weekend for a four day CE event. I'm just going to make one big post of all the different restaurants I ate at.

Lucha Libre Taco Shop
Surf and Turf Burrito - it was aiight

(Sorry, took the photo in the shade)

Firefly
duck tacos - mehh..

Paradise Point Resort & Spa
This was what I had for my banquet -- they didn't give us a menu

Grilled chicken with red potatoes and some sauce (looks like shiracha!)

Pistachio and Almond Cheese Cake - it was yummy!

One thing that I forgot to take a picture of was Phil's BBQ. A must eat if you are down in SD.

After this gluttonous week, I really need to go back to my regular diet.

Ruth's Chris Steak House

I had a CE (continuing education) at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Pasadena. It was amazing! Definitely one of the best steak I've ever had. I was only able to finish 1/2 of it. I'm not too familiar with all the different cuts of meats but the ribeye was good - very flavorful. Here's my three course meal:

Salad: Steak house salad with balsamic vinaigrette

Entree: Ribeye - "this USDA Prime cut is well marbled for peak flavor, deliciously juicy"

Sides: Potatoes Au Gratin and Creamed Spinach

Dessert: New York Style Cheese Cake

look how thick the cheese cake was!

Dinner at Anna's: Cold Noodle

Had dinner at my mama's place and we had cold noodle. She likes to overfill the bowl to the point where there is no mixing room! It's the Chu way! Delicious!

Il Postale

Went here for a work lunch. I ordered the cioppino and a half order of the ravioli. I'd go back for the cioppino - there was a good amount of seafood. The ravioli was unimpressive and slightly undercooked (beyond al dente).

Chinese New Year

Jennifer, Eric and Judy hosted Chinese New Year and they did a fantastic job. Way too much food as always. The moon cake was a hit.

SNA: Javi

Mexican restaurant located at the John Wayne Santa Ana airport. Got the hickey enchiladas that were good but way over priced. Chips and salsa were complementary and delicious.

Madd Mex Taco Truck

This taco truck came by my work a few weeks ago. I was gonna be reasonable and order a burrito in case I couldn't finish (more compact ), but then I remembered that I am a Chu and went for the fish taco plate. Great idea! The fish was crispy and the sides were good filler.

AGAIN.

Liangs Village Cuisine

Guess, I gotta start back up blogging since ya'll be slackers!

We went to a Taiwanese place in Cupertino we got the oxtail noodles, beef wrap, three flavor chicken, hot oil wonton, minced pork rice and other fried meats. We agreed oxtail noodles were the best and worth coming back for.

Healthy and Delicious: Kale with Minced Pork, Dried Shrimp, Mu Er and Mushroom

I wanted to share a dish I made today: kale with minced pork, dried shrimp, mu er, and mushroom.

Kale is an excellent source of vegetable! It's my first time cooking and eating kale. It came out pretty nice. I had made the minced pork combination earlier and had eaten it as a lettuce wrap (very versatile).

I hope you guys enjoy this first entry! I'm trying to eat health so I'll be posting up more healthy foods, but still delicious.
